m/v KLIPPER STREAM loading the first consignment of Mangoes of the 2014 season for Geest Line in San Juan, Puerto Rico on 7th May 2014. Geest Line will be calling in San Juan on a weekly basis throughout the Mango season from May to August providing a fast service to European markets.

Geest Line are delighted to welcome on board Donna Mitchell as Credit Controller with a view to helping Geest Line maintain a healthy balance!

Donna originally hails from Ayrshire, Scotland where she started her career in the accounts department with W.J. Knox who manufactured netting, cotton and yarn. Wishing to progress her chosen profession Donna made the decision to return to education and obtained a HND in Business Studies giving her a wider knowledge of the business world.

More recently Donna has worked for a Hampshire based Logistics company and valued customer of Geest Line where she worked with her Financial Director in all aspects of sales, purchase ledger and the all important monthly and year end accounts.

On a personal note Donna loves to run – she regularly takes part in races from 5K to wait for it… Ultra marathons! Perfect training for her new role with Geest Line.

After seven happy years with her previous employer we are very pleased to welcome Donna on board and wish her every success in her new role.

We would like to welcome to the Geest Family Capt. Steve Smith who joined us recently, and will be a welcome addition to our Operational Department as the Shipping Operations Manager.

Steve comes from a very successful maritime background and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge which can only enhance our operations department, he will be focusing on all aspects of the management of the Geest Line chartered vessels, working very closely with Mr Mike Enticott with the planning of the west bound general freight.

Once Steve has settled into his new role, he will travel with the vessels throughout the Caribbean, this will be a great opportunity to introduce himself to our agents and port officials.

Back in 1976, Steve started his maritime career in the Merchant Navy at the tender age of 18, he started as a deck cadet with IFR Services,  a reefer company trading worldwide carrying similar cargo to Geest, moving up the ranks from cadet to 2nd officer.

After getting married in 1983, Steve decided to leave his sea-faring ways behind and came ashore in 1985.

In 1993 and with two new additions to the family, Steve decided to return to sea and joined UECC (United European Car Carriers), whilst working with  UECC Steve studied at Warsash Nautical College where he achieved a HND in nautical science along with a Master Mariners Certificate, this allowed him to become a Chief Officer and finally a Master, and so to our benefit, Steve decided to leave UECC and came and joined us here at the Geest Line, and we hope that the next chapter in his career with Geest is a fantastic one, and we all wish him well.
