Customer Notice – Correct Cargo Declaration

Dear Valued Customer,

A quick reminder of the importance of accurately declaring cargo in containers shipped on the Geest Line service.

Our priority is as always safety of life at Sea and knowing exactly what we have on board is critical, aside from your legal obligations of making accurate declarations.

General Cargo

Have all hazardous items been declared? for example cleaning products and toiletries can be hazardous even in limited quantities. We need to know about these to ensure correct stowage on the vessel.

Vehicles

All vehicles must be declared and approved by relevant authorities to allow the cargo to be shipped. For Petrol and Diesel vehicles batteries must be disconnected and fuel drained from the tank(s). Electric and hybrid vehicles cannot be shipped under deck and must be loaded as the only cargo inside the container.

Personal effects

Has everything that is being shipped been declared? Are there any electronics with lithium batteries? Does the cargo include E-bikes or E-scooters?

Portsmouth Port has full x-ray capability. Any undeclared cargo / vehicles may be seized along with the other cargo in the container and refused shipment.

Please, for the safety of the crew and the environment ensure all cargo is correctly declared.
